MB Seminary Launches New Centre for Spiritual Care
MB Seminary is pleased to announce the launch of The Centre for Education and Advancement of Spiritual Care to resource students and those engaged in the ministry of spiritual care in both practitioner and pastoral roles.
PURPOSE
To foster and promote clinical and theological excellence in spiritual care through professional competence, spiritual growth, and theological reflection.
VISION
The Centre for Education and Advancement of Spiritual Care will be known for developing professional chaplains/spiritual care practitioners who have a love and burden for people based on a personal spiritual commitment.
STRATEGIC PRIORITIES
- Resource those engaged in spiritual caregiving in both practitioner and pastoral roles by disseminating best practice information and research findings to advance the ministry of spiritual care.
- Create a culture of life-long learning with the provision of continuing education (CE) opportunities through small groups, webinars, and conferences, as well as the provision of CE courses and certificates in a for-credit partnership.
- Provide a Clinical Psychospiritual Education (CPE) program as per the national guidelines of the Canadian Association of Spiritual Care (CASC).
- Develop partnerships to support the training and education of practitioners in specific fields of ministry by creating and vending online educational resources.
- Foster and promote clinical and theological excellence in the person of the practitioner while supporting professional competence and spiritual formation.
- Offer events to promote spiritual care education in support of student recruitment and retention initiatives of the ACTS chaplaincy program.
Under the governance and leadership of MB Seminary, the Centre will further the advancement of spiritual care as a recognized ministry. The Centre will ensure chaplains/spiritual care practitioners can receive continuing education for professional certification, while promoting spiritual care practices among all those engaged in pastoral ministry.
The Centre will begin resourcing the field on August 1, 2024, with DR. GLORIA WOODLAND serving as Director. For further information, please contact Dr. Woodland.
