To The Cross is the title of MB Seminary’s 2025 Easter devotional. This resource takes readers through the Gospel of Mark over the duration of Lent. The series begins on Ash Wednesday (March 5) and will conclude on Easter Sunday (April 20). The devotionals are written by men and women from MB churches and/or agencies.

What is the Revised Common Lectionary?
A lectionary is a list of Scripture readings assigned for specific days. This schedule introduces readers to a variety of passages, while also emphasizing specific seasons in the Christian calendar.

The Revised Common Lectionary (RCL) was derived from various Protestant lectionaries, which were based on the Ordo Lectionum Missae of the Roman Catholic Church after the Second Vatican Council (you can read more about the origins on Wikipedia).

The RCL was released in 1994 and follows a three-year cycle, with multiple texts assigned for each day.

After subscribing, you will begin receiving the email the following day. If you cannot locate the daily email from MB Seminary, check your junk and spam folders and then change your filter settings so that future emails will arrive in your inbox.
When will I begin receiving the emails?

You can subscribe to the devotional at any time and you will begin receiving the emails the following day (during the seasons of Advent and Lent). The emails are scheduled to send at approximately 2:30 am (Pacific Time) so that subscribers from various time zones will receive it in the morning.

History

Since 2015, MB Seminary has worked together with our national constituency to develop devotional readings for the seasons of Advent (Christmas) and Lent (Easter). Entries are written by authors from MB churches and/or agencies and the text of the day follows a specific book of the Bible or is chosen from the Revised Common Lectionary.

The purpose of the resource is to encourage people to read the Bible and to experience how its message can shape their lives. Each devotional is connected to the assigned Bible reading for that day. While the writings are intended for readers to discuss in small group settings, they can also be read individually.
